PostHeaderIcon Bathroom Furniture – It’s Got to Be Bespoke

Ten years ago, we had heard of stylish sinks and tubs and cabinets, and that was all we needed for a luxurious bathroom. Today, it is accepted that the comfort level a bathroom should afford (especially for women) be unsurpassed by any other room in the house. Carpeted dressing areas with huge mirrors and lighting, an adjoining walk-in wardrobe, highly specific shelves for toiletries and personal storage to make a bathroom more than a necessary utility.

Renovating an existing bathroom by buying new furniture of approximate sizes and functionality is a step in the right direction, but finding pieces to fit exactly where you would like them can be tricky and you often just go for what fits… Adopting bespoke bathroom furniture, on the other hand, can easily change your bathroom without making it too crammed or disorganised. It is a matter of choosing every bit of new installation in keeping with the existing spatial and aesthetic environs of your bathroom.

You will want to base your bathroom on the following criteria:

- Physical Feasibility - You can’t get a regal dressing table with 3 square feet of spare space!

- Stylistic Adjustments - Do you want to change the plumbing to match your new look, or have a look that can integrate the existing fixtures? You might have a wooden-framed mirror, but aluminium cabinets beside it. Would you remove the wood or the metal? This not only depends solely on your bathroom, but also the room it adjoins. Wooden furniture in bathroom, especially made of Oak, is being used increasingly to give it a stately look. These parts are properly coated, such as with shellac, to protect the wood from moisture.

- Comfort and Utility – This is, undoubtedly, the most important of all considerations. If you store medicines and some personal supplies in your bathrooms, or have a wide range of cosmetics and beauty products to keep in ready reach, your bespoke furniture will pay more attention to maximizing space utilisation and ease of accessibility.

And finally…

- The User of the Bathroom – You will not have the same amenities in a guest bathroom, or the common bathroom, as you will in the ensuite. An extra shelf for clean towels and unused toiletries will be needed when you have visitors. For the children’s bathroom, you will want non-abrasive furniture resistant to scratches and impact.

Another great thing about choosing a bespoke bathroom cabinet is the sheer luxury of being able to choose your own fixtures, fittings and finishes… Walnut, marble, ebony, crystal, glass.
